I just finished my rebuild on my 75 vette and I am hoping someone out there has a similar set up to mine and can give me an idea where I should have my timing.
Check out the post at the top of the page:
"Info on Timing, Long Post" by BarryK
Print it out along with a visit to his home page for the other papers
offered there. A few minutes with this information and you will know exactly what to do.
he'll probably have 350 but with that intake, your gonna cut a lot of power. I would defenitly upgrade to a performer RPM. The performer intake is for basically stock motors.
I know I really don't like the performer manifold either it came with the car but I read on a lot of magazines the performer rpm wont fit under the hood!
Some similarities between my set up and yours. You want total advance, with vac plugged, at 36 deg. Use light springs so it comes in early. Hook up your vacuum after you set the timing. BTW - I'm using an Edel Performer manifold. It can't be that bad.

Thanks alot...what kinda power do you think your running?

Make sure to read the tech paper and use a rubber band in your distributor to check that you do not have the advance coming in at
idle.
MTC 75- (1)- There is an excellent article right here on the forum about timing your engine...look to the top middle of the page and click on "other" then "tech tips" then "C3" and check out all the articles.
(2)-Check out this site for horsepower combinations, over 100 listed, one might be close to your setup. Ryanscarpage.50megs.com
First off i"m no expert on timing, but i doubt seriously if 10.1-1 cr with a small duration cam like the 268H is going to like 36-38 degrees of timing. I do not have edelbrock heads, so i cant help you. I run dart heads, an dart recommends 32-34 degrees of timing. 36-38 is not a magic number for all engine combo"s. Start out with 32 degrees timing an slowly advance it till you hear the dreaded ping, spark knock, valves ratteling, whatever you want to call it. Once you hear that, back off the timing 2 degrees. Your pistons will thank you.
I run 10.1-1 cr an a much larger cam than you have . i just do get away with 34 degrees.

With the stock aircleaner....however, there is an answer.
Edelbrock RPM Q-Jet part #7104. Probably the best dual plane for the Q-Jet. Flows better than the Performer.
I am using the stock Q-Jet, just made a new fuel line to accomodate the increased height (search for "Lars fuel line" for directions). Replaced the hot air choke with an electric choke. Google "electric choke" Q-Jet for a kit.
Edelbrock will tell you that the 7104 does not fit the Corvette. I am using a Moroso Low Profile Racing Aircleaner. 14x3" filter. Barely touches HEI. Just had to dimple the base a bit for the accelerator pump arm. 3/4" clearance between aircleaner and stock hood.
