I just bought an "82". The rear spring is a multi-leaf not a mono leaf fiberglass. The U-joints for the half shafts, from the auto parts are 1 1/16 dia brg cap, what I needed is 1 3/16 dia. So I guess I'm under the impression that I have an older rear end in this vet. Possibly an "80" or "81". Is this correct??? Also is there a difference between limited slip & posi???
Interesting...I thought the design changed for the '81 model year? Does your car have the aluminum 1-piece crossmember/diff cover? I know the half-shaft diameter increased sometime in the 70's but I don't think the half-shaft u-joints changed...?
Positraction is GM's brand name for the limited-slip differential. I think Ford called theirs "Traction-Lock" or something, but I grew up thinking any limited-slip was called Positraction, no matter who made it...kinda like kleenex or popsicle
