What info have you found to say it does not exist? That is a valid VIN that you posted for a 74 Coupe with the base L48 engine. As stated above it is number 13,125 in production sequence. What were you trying to find?
Be careful now of what you look at. Yes, "it was" a '74 Corvette VIN at one time(or still possibly is), but possibly the "original" '74 Corvette with this VIN was totalled, destroyed by fire, etc, and the VIN plate removed and installed on another maybe "stolen" '74 Corvette. Not saying this happened-just watch for it!!! Knew a person one time who bought a '64 coupe with a "stolen VIN", had it repo'ed by the Highway Patrol and he literally still owed THOUSANDS of dollars on it which he had to pay til the loan was paid for!!! Be careful what you buy and look at when it comes to questions dealing with VINs. :yesnod:
I've seen restored frames and the VIN was either on top of the left side frame rail(can't see with body on, I don't think)and have seen them on top of the left rear frame dogleg. Don't remember if it can be viewed with the "body on". On an unrestored car, it'd probably be too hard to read anyways.
I have a wrecked frame (accident, Bubba repair) to use it for my body dolly.
It is a 73 frame and the VIN is on the left frame rail top just about 3" from the #3 Body mount.
It is not visible with the body on.
I hope I will detect the correct number on my 77 frame on saturday - the body lift is in progress and should happen on Saturday, January 26th 2002.
Thanks. But this does not seem an option for the person who is concerned about the validity of a car to be picked up tomorrow. He/she still has not expressed the problem for us to comment on.
