I got a lot of help from you guys with my trans/clutch, I got most everything together and will update with some pics soon, thanks again for all the input. I was putting the new shifter on today and I noticed the yoke in the rear of the trans seems stuck or pressed on, So I wanted to check in here, that yoke is suppose to slide back and forth in the tail is it not? I pulled and pushed on it pretty good but I didnt try tapping it out or anything. any ideas?

If you disconnect the driveshaft at the differential you should be able to slide the yoke off the transmission. The drivetrain is fixed in place since the trans and the differential are both bolted to the frame so you won't see any movement in the driveshaft like you would in a car with a floating rear end. If you don't have a driveshaft attached to the yoke, then yes, it should slide off the transmission.
nothings in the car yet.. I'm trying to put a car back together that somebody else quit in the middle of. A lot of the parts the guy had got together to change from a auto to 4-speed are wrong and wont work. If the yoke is right and the drive shaft fits in ok it will be all good.
Not quite as important in a Vette with the IRS center section (there is still some slight movement due to differential being rubber mounted) but, I alway coat my slip yoke splines with anti-seize when installing and put a little lube on the rear trans seal too. There is a slight possibility splines can be twisted or rusted and you yoke will be a PITA to remove. We used to run a NHRA modified production Camaro with a 287cu/in small block that had a 65lb flywheel behind it to launch, that would TWIST splines, spit out U-joijnts and tear through Dana 60 gears sets but, that "little motor" car ran National Record times with the right air/track conditions (in prehistoric times of the 1970's, now I'm dating myself!)

I hope I dont have that problem. The reciepts that came with the car & parts said it was a remanufactured trans, and its not been installed yet so I hope its just stuck a bit. I have not made it out to the garage yet to take a wack at it with a BFH.. keep my fingers crossed..
