I have downloaded lot of good information about Hydrobooster and printed many pages and photos. I talked with my neighbor about this installation what I will perform in the summer.
My neighbor has a 1971 coupe and he wants better brakes too. We talked about my plan to use Hydrobooster and he told me that with Hydrobooster my breaks will leak because of higher brake pressure. Is this true?
I have a Hydrobooster from a truck, is this one with more pressure?
second off, make sure you SS lined calipers are fitted with Oring pistons and seals, get NEW rubber lines, get a NEW late model m/cyl, then install the HB unit....bleed normally...like any other car, when all the air is out.....that is not any problem IF the springs are NOT installed behind the pistons...toss them....then IF the runout on the disc is less than 1/32 or so....that is .030 mearly 10x what the factory lip seals can withstand....
install the HB and get ready for BRAKES that work....
GONE is that famous GM squishey brakes syndrome that is in every car they have made for some 50 years now....
Hydroboost are found in 1 Ton trucks and diesels.. if you pull any more
from a boneyard try and get the fittings, lines and the power steering
pump if you can... trying to save you some time and money if the
parts truck you find has usable attachments.
I thought I read somewhere that Hydratech recommends braided stainless brake hoses and not rubber.
Here is the recipe:
-94 Chev Astrovan HB unit -modded length and threaded rod to fit your length rod to clevis pin -talk to DB for the unit.
-78 and later C3 Master Cylinder
-Braided stainless brake hoses
-VBP O-ring pistons in your already SS sleeved calipers
-Build your own AN fitted braided SS power steering lines from DB list of materials. Make sure you get the right fitting for your year power steering pump.
Put it together and run it for a few good miles (100 miles) to self bleed the system.
Its just that easy and the pedal feel is phenomenal
Hydroboost will not cause a leak by itself, it will maybe just show a hidden problems in the old and almost deteriorated lines/fittings.
Also, the amount of pressure in your braking system will not be higher than normal, it will only be less effort from your leg to reach that "maximum" pressure.

Get things working properly and the HB will work like it should.
I do not know exactly what model Hydrobooster I have. I like to buy a new or rebuilt unit, I think one of the members here is selling Hydroboosters ? Are these Hydroboosters modified to fit a C3 ?
