Default Door Panel removal

I'm trying to remove the drivers side doo panel so I can take a look at the locking linkage because it's bound up but I can't get the panel off. I've removed all the screws around the edges, the window crank, lock **** and the latch handle. It seems that the pull handle is holding the entire panel in place. I can see the phillips screw on the bottom side and it has pulled through but I don't see anything in the top. Should I be able to get that screw out with a screw driver? My AIM says it's a phillips but I can't catch anything when I put a screw driver in there. Ideas or advice? Thanks.

Try a flat head, maybe the original screw was lost and replaced.

the handle has a metal reinforcement molded into the plastic. if the lower screw has pulled thru the handle, the handle is trashed. try cutting the plastic away and exposing the top screw. if the head is stripped, drill it out and rethread the hole. be carefull to follow the path of the screw, it doesn't go perpendicual to the door, it angles toward the front as the screw goes into the door.

I had the same problem, one screw from the door pull came out easy and I couldn't find the other. Try turning the pull in a counter-clockwise direction, maybe it will unscrew the screw a little. If it doesn't, maybe you can turn it and look and you will see the head (this is what I did). The screw has not pulled all the way through the door pull, or you would be holding the door pull in your hand by now, so it must still be catching on the metal ring at the bottom. If you have to wreck the door pull, they aren't very expensive, but wrecking something is usually my last resort.

BTW, the screws on mine had one standard and one phillips, so I wouldn't bet on it being either one without seeing it.

It is hard to see the top screw. With a flashlight and a mirror you may be able to see what type of screw head it is.

Thanks guys, sure enough phillips on the bottom and slotted on the top. Also you were correct about not ruining the door pull. I think I'm gonna have a hell of a time getting it back on though

Holy crap, that's what mine was! Maybe they are the original date-correct screws! I think I'm gonna put mine on e-bay.
