You guys convinced me on the pro billet tach drive. Now I need to find a good distributor guy to install a steel melonized gear for the new crate zz454. Aparrently the shaft or gear has to be re-machined. Can you reccomend someone who is familier with this??
Thanks
Greg
Changing the gear is easy. Just drive the pin out and swap gears and drive the pin back in. Takes about a minute. As for the size, once you get the melonized gear and your new distributor you can see how much it needs to be machined. I just took my gear to a machine shop and they turned it to the size of the shaft (slightly over sized). My research showed that various distributor manufacturers use different shaft sizes so you will need to have both in hand before you know which way you need to go. Any machine shop with a lathe will be able to do the work you don't need a dist. specialist.
