qboy, if you wish to have the convenience of buying off-the-shelf you can simply look to Eclker's, Vanacor, Tracy Performance and other such Corvette resources for some ideas. Efficiency varies among different designs available, and it depends on your purposes as to what would be best suited to your needs, but the idea of damming air from getting under the nose, getting what air does get underneath out and trapping it on the tail (and doing so without throwing off balance) are the general goals towards reducing lift/creating downforce. The axiom isn't always true, but often "if it looks right it probably is" applies here if you understand aero basics. Frankly, if you don't, then this is no place to be re-inventing things on your own anyway, but nothing is holding you back from becoming a student of the subject and becoming an aero expert, FWIW.
