Default Deep Pan on TH350

Anyone out there using a deep oil pan on there TH350 and if so what type how deep and did you run into any problems with it? Installation etc? I have a 77 but would think all C3 would be the same.
Thanks

You have to get under the car and be sure the additional pan depth will not interfere with anything (exhaust, etc). And, I think you have to lower the tranny fluid pickup/filter with an adapter.

I have a 77 with a B&M TH350. I added a deep pan. I think it is two or three quarts more. It came with an adapter that lowers the pickup. I had no problems with install or clearance. I like it because it came with a drain plug and extra thick flange.

why do you need to lower your pick up and filter? even if your pan was 15 inches deep wouldnt the oil level still be the same but just a greater quantity .

I thought the same thing but them I thought that the filter would filter out more if it were lower in the fluid closer to the bottom.

I put one on my C4 that also has cooling tubes running thru it. Works great and have yet to drag it on anything. I do avoid speed bumps tho!

If you're using the stock shifter cable and bracket, that bracket might not bolt up thru the aluminum pan because the wall thickness on the new pan is thicker. The thicker flange also lowers the bracket and can cause it to interfere with the exh pipe on that side. Just some things to keep in mind.

Thanks for posting about the deep TH350 pan I was concerned that it would not fit because of the trans mounting brace. But you say there is no problems with that.
Thanks

The pick-up and filter must be lowered or you really haven't increased fluid capacity at all.....even if the pan was 2 feet deep, fluid could still be sucked up enough to expose the filter (to open air) under load conditions with all that excess oil beneath it useless at that point. The same reason the crankcase oil pick-up is at the bottom of the pan.

There is a different filter assembly for the chevy deep pans. I would thing that is all you would need to make it work properly (fluid wise that is).
