Default Carb / Intake

75 350. I purchased a edelbrock performer manifold and installed. I am to the point of hooking up vacuum lines. I am using the stock quadrajet and distributor. The manifold does not have a spot for the EGR TVS switch and the ENG-EGR valve. Looking at the AIM 6L-6 the TVS hoses should be routed to the front bottom of the carb and the EGR valve. If the EGR valve is not installed I assume I do not need to worry about it. However I do not know what to do with the line ending at the carb. I do not have to meet emission requirements and do not have the air pump installed. The manifold does have a hole on the drivers side front however the thermostat housing covers it. The thermostat housing has the EFE TVS switch with 2 outlets. One goes to the EFE actuator, which I do not have and the other goes to the diverter valve which I do not have either. Can someone share how to hook everything up or have a picture of a similar routing?

I'm not sure I completely understand your question, but any vacuum fittings (on carb or manifold) that are not used must be capped. You can buy a small assortment pack of these caps at the auto parts store for about $2, but check them every year or so because my experience with them is that they dry rot and start leaking.

As far as what you hook up, there is timed and untimed (manifold) vacuum. Manifold vacuum is present at all times and comes directly from the manifold and from some of the nipples on the carb. There may also be timed vacuum, which is not present until the throttle is opened. As a general rule, the timed vacuum nipples will be higher up on the carb and the manifold nipples near the carb base. You can be sure which is which by putting your finger over the nipple at idle.

For emissions reasons, auto makers started using timed vacuum for ignition advance, but most hot rodders hook it up to manifold vacuum.

Hope this helps,

God bless, Sensei

I completely removed all of my emissions equipment and connected vacuum advance to full manifold vacuum. It runs very well.
