A couple of freinds and I are planning a trip around the great lakes. Has anyone traveled from Dututh Mn, to New York on hwy 17/11/69.
Any ideas what kind of roads they are, two or four lane, What kind of speed limits are there?, How are the police, wildlife? Is 4 days enough for the trip?
Any help out there????????
What roads in Canada are you intending to use? I know highway 17 but not the two others. Can you name some points of destination in Canada? Where are you crossing the border?

Re: How are the roads in Canada (paul79)
Hwy 69 is a bad road ( for accidents ) on long weekends, they are widening it now but still lots of two lane driving with fairly high speed 90 KMH ( so most try to go 110 )
The roads are good and some good scenery etc. but alot of two lane driving till you get to the bottom of 69.
Four days is enough to get there and back but that's about it :D
The roads are two lanes. Animals are more podominent at night. There are police but they are usually scarce. Speed is 55 mph or 90 kmh. Once you get to Toronto the speed increases but majority of your tirp is 55. To do the trip in 4 days you are going to have some long days. Good luck. If you need more e-mail me.
