I don't know if that's the same brand cap as Corvette America sells, but I can tell you I know a couple people who've used the CA one and are pleased. If you look at the defroster openning area on a Corvette America cap, you can tell it's a cap because it sits up a little higher than the defroster grill. Otherwise they fit pretty good. As I said, I don't know if MidAmerica sells the same cap.
I helped a friend of mine install one on a 78. It was not long after the plastic crap cracked in the side where the two side screws went. You know where the door shuts. The fit over the windshield wiper switch looked pretty crappy and there were other things he did not like. It did hide his cracked dash pad.
The pad is the best way to do it if you can handle the price.
Do you have any pics? I haven't been able to find any *GOOD* pics of a dash cap in place.
You don't mention what year cap you want, but by the link you provided and your forum name, I assume it's for a 77. If true, than blckslvr79 can't help you much. The 78-82 dash is completely different, it uses a one piece dash (top and front all one). 68-77 dashes are made up of 3 pieces, left and right front, and a top. 68-77 dash caps are a top cover only. Nothing is shared between the 77 and earlier and 78 and later dashes. You need to find a someone who has used a 68-77 cap. I know of a 76 with one of these caps, but it's not convenient to me (35 miles away) and I'm not sure how well you could see the fit of the cap from a photo.
bummer, I wanted go that route if sombody had anything good to say about them. maybe theres a good brand to look for that will get mentioned.. mine is just cracked a little at one speaker grill.
It looks hard but it's not! If you get stuck just email me! The instructions cover all three pads, but you can stop at any point. Willcoxcustomerservice@willcoxcorvette.c om (no good tonight though, my email is down).
I have installed a new dash pad on my 76 and it is not as bad as you think, the really hard part is getting it out with out breaking it, but if you are replacing it it does not matter.
For those of you needing to remove your top pad and reinstall it just be real careful removing it so you don't bend it or crack it.
This job really sounds harder than it is, and the new pad looks great.

Nice to see another okie on here.. haha.
I was just trying to get out of the cost of a full pad. If it looked good enough for "local" car shows (i.e. non pro judged events) I would have been satisfied... its not like my car is anywhere near original anyways.. 74 w/ an 81 rear bumper, l88 hood and, and 17" wheels.. and that's before you even open the hood.. haha
installed a cover from ecklers on my 76 about 6 months ago. great product, great price and simple to install. I will try to take photos this weekend and post.
