I bought the GM Teflon Sealler for the Head Bolts. Don't go through what I went through. Had the thing altogether and running then had a tiny water seepage problem our of both heads.
Putting mine back together this weekend also.
good luck.
Head bolts--Permatex No. 2 or 2A on all the threads. Don't use anything else. Trust me.
Intake gaskets--light coating of RTV* around the water passages front and rear only. On both sides of the gasket, if you please.
Intake end rails--don't use the rubber ones that come in the kit. Instead, run a 1/4" bead of RTV along the rails, extending them up to overlap with the ends of the intake gaskets. Let it set up and skin over for a couple of minutes before you put the manifold down.
Intake manifold bolts--coat the threads with your RTV.
*Make sure the tube specifically says, "RTV" or "RTV Silicone" on it somewhere. Products that say only "silicone" are not suitable, IMO. Also be aware that Permatex No. 2 or 2A is a different product than RTV. You'll need to buy two different tubes of goo.
Other folks may have different ideas. Happy bolting!
