I'm in the middle of an LS swap. My adapter plates move the motor up about 1/4" from stock causing trans tunnel clearance problems. Flipping the plates would allow me to drop the motor 1/4" from stock.
Problem is that the rubber or poly motor mounts dont look like they would hold mounted upside down.
So I'm guessing I can use solid mounts upside down. Anyone using them? What's the downside, just more vibration? Is it that bad?
I switched to solid motor mounts years ago. I was constantly ripping my rubber ones in two. I'll never go back. I honestly can't say I noticed any significant increase in vibrations. My favorite benefit was my header and collectors don't loosen up and create leaks. I've seen this question posted before. Try a search. Good luck.
Yep, I did a search. A lot of posts about changing to them, then not much followup. Also, this is for an iron LS block. I'm assuming the 4 mounting points and cross bolted mains are better for stress on the block compared to a SBC. Wondering if anyone else had an opinion on this?

I love mine. Made by Moroso. Got them at Jegs I think. People said I would have vibration, but I dont, and I feel sooo much safer that my supercharged 383 isnt going to come flying out unexpectedly one day
Get you a VBP spreader bar too. Excellent company to work with.
Hi new here to this great forum and this guestion caught my eye as I'm now tossing this very guest. around The info I've rec. is that sold mounts are fine for around 500 hp and down. After that block distortion comes into play. This has made me think of motor plates, being a drag only car.As always everone has a diff. opinion.

I've had Moroso solid mounts on every BB I've had in my '78, and would assume the reason for the relative lack of follow up being posted after installation is that there's pretty much no downside about which to complain. Strongly suggest the spreader bar, too. Agree about possible plate(s) for high power drag applications.
I switched to Moroso solid mounts to avoid any engine movement because of the close proximity of the blower and hood... no discernable additional vibration...

FYI, Moroso #62530 appear to fit all C2 & C3 applications. If you don't have a local speed shop source, Jeg's or Summit ought to have them for under $30. BTW, do NOT install a solid transmission mount, unless you happen to like cracked housings...

Unless you've got a 'glide or an M-40 automatic transmission, one cushion apparently fits all C2/C3's. I'll see if I can get you a GM #; Paragon's is #1519 for $9

Never cracked my block but a few fillings fell out with the bang between gears when shifting. I went back to poly mounts and can shift normal now
Hey Motorhead,
I need to purchase some poly mounts. Sounds like you have put yours to the test. Could I get a brand and part number if you are running a small block?
Thanks
