I have early 69 Vette with big canister actuator and there are very notable movement happening when wiper door closes or opens. Is that normal?
Movement is so notable that I must leave actuator bolts a bit open to allow the actuator movement. The wiper door is not even opening/clossing if I fully tight the actuator's bolts and prevent the movement. help?
I have a 68 which has been completely restored to factory original condition and my large vacuum canister also moves as the door opens and closes. It is the change in the angle of the rod (attached to the wiper door panel) moving in and out of the vacuum can that casues the movement and mine has done that since I have owned it (1972) so I think it is normal.
If you tighten the bolts all the way, the vacuum can can't pivot and then the rod does not move in and out and the result is that the wiper door does not open.
