I have a stock 1982 Corvette I bought new. I locked the car during a rare trip out of town which activated the alarm system. After shopping, I unlocked the passenger's side door and the alarm went off. I inserted the key into the driver's side door and turned the key and the alarm shut off. Is this normal for the alarm to sound after unlocking passenger's side door?
how did you unlock the door? On mine I know if I lock it with the key, its set. Then if you try to unlock it from the inside like when you have the windows down then mine get set off and you have to use the key to turn it off.

I don't know if its normal but mine works the same way. It seems you always have to unlock the drivers door first. Chivalry wasn't a consideration in 82. Tell the lady she has to open her own door.
Either door lock should deactivate the alarm when the key is used to unlock it. The key turning the lock in either door should provide the ground signal to disable the alarm.
The randomness of the experience here shows the randomness of bad electrical contacts on your doors.
You need a new door lock assembly or clean your existing locks contacts so the electrical connection is made.
Disarming
The system is disarmed by unlocking either door with the key or by turning the ignition on. Alarm shut down is accomplished only by unlocking either door with the key.
