Remove Bumpers?

Remove Bumpers?
Hi guys. I have a '76 Chevy Corvette. I'm doing a full restoration and I would like to take the body off the frame. What I want to know is do I have to remove the front and back bumpers before taking the body off? I'm hoping for a negative, but better safe than sorry.

If you are going to remove the body, you'll have to remove the bumpers. It MIGHT be possible to remove only one, but given the difficulties of either trying th "thread the needle" manuvering the body with the hoist, suggest you remove both The bumper covers will have to come off anyway in any testoeation.

I left the bumpers on mine when I did my 75, it wasnt a big deal. My back bumper was replaced a few years ago, but I didnt see any cracking on the front bumper, so I would leave them on and give the body a little extra rigidity, and if they crack you would probably need to replace them soon anyway.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I think I'm going to remove the bumpers. My bumpers are the original from '76 but they are in perfect condition and just need a new paint job. Is it ok for me to paint them and put 'em back on after I finish with the body as long as they are in excellent shape?
