I currently have a set of Hedman 68306 ceramic coated headers in my car. After a small "incident" involving a leaking valve cover gasket, some flames, and some fire extinguishing spray... they look a little less than stellar.
I incorrectly ordered a set of Hedman 68308 thermal coated headers to replace them. Now that they are here... and look very nice.. I'm thinking about keeping them. What are the advantages of one versus the other?
According to Hedman's catalog the thermal coating is ceramic but the price difference would indicate that it is not the same as the HTC. The thicker flange will not pose any alignment issues and the overall improvements of the 68308 would make them very durable.
I think the thicker flange and thicker gauge tubing will make a more durable header, but I would like to know the difference between the coatings. There shouldn't be any alignment issues, unless you have an H pipe close to the collectors, then a little heat from a torch may be required to "align" the parts.
I hope all goes well, as I have a set of the 68308's to install next month as well.
