Default Help me please on the C-3!

1980 L-48 with a 350

I can't get the water temp guage working at all. I replaced the sensor in the thermostat housing, the green wire has new connector on it and it is connected. The green wire goes to the drivers side of the block and that is connected, but I don't see anything going from that towards the firewall. I think this is going to be simple fix, but it has become a headache, more like a migrane. It worked before we took the motor out and it seems to be more trouble now than getting the motor back in and getting it hooked up and running. Any suggestions??
Thanks for your help in advance,
Ray/aka/Pa

in my 80 temp sending unit is into head, not on thermostat housing...with green wire..
check the gauge, behind it there's a flat resistor, if it's broke it can't work..(sorry for my english, i'm from italy)

Take the wire off the sensor and have somebody ground it to the block momentarily while you sit in car watching the gauge ,if gauge is working it should jump right up.

It should peg out once grounded out. If it doesn't then the gauge was already on it's way out and it just happened to decide to give up the ghost now.

good luck

Unless the wire is broken!! Not likely but it can happen. Make sure you have continuity from the end of the wire back to the gauge.

Thanks everyone , I will try that or all of that. A word to the wise , I can say it now, and kick myself for not doing it earlier. When you take the engine of of the car, mark ,tag , take pictures of everything you touch and take apart, and even beyond that do the same thing especially to all the stuff other people are pulling apart. The things that should be pretty simple have turned out to be the nightmares. It has been a
challenge but a good one. Thanks to all you folks for your help.It is really appreciated.

Thanks again ,
God Bless you all ,
