Hi
I am trying to get at my parking brake to see why it is dragging on the wheels , I have drilled out the rivets but I cant get the disk off Its driving me nuts - Any idea's on what to do next??
The shoes may be rusted in position dragging the rotor or you still have some rivet parts holding them on. Look up my thread on T/A's and you'll see what things look like under the rotor.
Thanks for the replies - Yes had the adjusters backed off as far as they would go . I got it off eventually , I think it was a mixture of a couple of the rivets still grabbing a bit and the face of the hub and the back of the disc stuck together with crud/surface rust
Turns out the drivers side had a broken spring (the one from the top) that had fallen and hooked at the bottom - was dragging on the drum.
The other side was fine .
Both sides turn but it takes a reasonable effort - I think this is due to the effort needed to turn the driveshafts - it is twice as hard to turn the hub backwards as opposed to forwards , why is that??
Anyone know where I can get just the spring and not a whole rebuild kit - Gm stealership maybe??
