Default 5 spd removable cross/tough-tech question!

Just got my keisler 5 speed kit for my 67 BB.--pretty cool kit. Anyway I also just recieved a removable crossmember kit I want to install during the frame off. The cross member is actually a brand new 68 repro automatic style with the brackets that I want to install while frame is off. Big question is I feel I am getting into uncharted territory!! The c2 guys cannot seem to give me a diffinitive answer on this.. The problem is that it is a 68 automatic crossmember kit...car is 67...The 5 spd trans to crossmember bracket i got was a 4 spd to 5spd. So I sent that bracket back to keisler and am exchanging it for a automatic to 5 spd bracket. I think this should work fine??? Keisler cautioned me that maybe original drive line angles might be different between 67 and 68???
I am taking the frame and trans + crossmember to a super frame guy who will do the work in his jig. Still..it would be nice to know now. It took me a while to get past modifying frame--but these cars are fun cause they are easy to work on. That removable cross member looks essential for us home mechanics that are hard on clutches!!

I can't help you on the frame but the removeable X member is a must in my book. I have had the Tremec in my car for about 5 years and have had the trans out almost every year since then. I can have the trans on the ground in about an hour with little hassle.

I don't see why the 68 corssmember won't fit the 67 frame...frame is the same except for the body mounts...why did you send the bracket back? You are not installing an automatic.

Who did you get the removeable crossmember kit from? Was it from Keisler? Thanks

I think this answers a question I have had for a while about your avatar. It is hard to see in the picture with my bad eyes, but it looks like you are going about 125-130 mph at a smidge under 4000 rpm. I have a 3.08 rear and 4000 rpm would be right around 100 mph for me. So the difference would be caused by: overdrive.

GDAINA
Van Steel sells a brand new 68 thru 76 automatic crossmember complete with the brackets that weld to the frame. When I say I am getting an automatic bracket from keisler I mean automatic crossmember converted to 5 spd. If this crossmember deal works out it will be nice. Even though not correct it will have a nice O.E.M. look to it. Still would like more input on this I know it is a little difficult!!

you can modify your crossmember...just cut a section out, and weld mounting tbs, drill bolt holes, and you're done. You will have to cut your crossmember anyway...you will have to modify your tranny bracket, or buy the bracket...
