Ok I got the dual exhaust and header kit from Corvette Central. and for those of you who remember this thread here is an update.
Headers had to be cut as I could not get them on as the temp sensor was in the way of the metal cross bar on the header between the primary tubes, if ya know what I mean.
the collectors on the header and the front exhaust pipes are supposed to join with three nuts and bolts, one of the hose for the bolt was so close to the motor I could not get the bolt on?? So they are only heald on by two out of three bolts, but it seems to work.
all exhaust from there back went on perfect.
Corvette central sent me two 3" clamps, but my pipes are 2 1/2 "
spark plug boots rested on the primary tubes when I was all done the install, so I had to remove plug wires.....which lay under the motor mount, so you have to take the boot off to get the wire out from under the motor mount, but when I pulled the boot off the wire broke. So I bought new wires, ... so then I had to get new plugs too, right??
So far I don't have any exhuast leaks. I have idles the car three times and drove it once.
I love the sound of the mufflers!!, sounds just awsome going 80 and then hammerin it.
Overall I am very please with this product, but it was a little annoying getting the headers on, but maybe I am missing or not knowing something but I did not see how they could fit without cutting them.
from another 81 owner.....single best mod for an 81 is sell it and buy an 80
To respectfully disagree, the '81 is the best C3 IMHO and I would not trade it for anything.
Congrats on the exhaust install. I would watch that 2 bolt connection, repeated heating and cooling will make it loosen up. You might want to figure out a way to get that other bolt in. (Loosen the header/ bring the bolt from the other direction etc.)
Jarred, good advice from sensei. you need a tight three bolt connection. if you're going to drive the car regularly, you'll probably find the headers have become loose after a few weeks from the intial install. look after them quickly before you need a new gasket(s). good luck

you love computers, i dont. not in cars anyway.
nor do i like aluminium diffs that im waiting to go BANG
i would trade for a 70-72
^ The 81 is the year!, Lightest C3 car with updated rear monoleaf and other features... etc etc, and you would be surprised at what the stock rear end can handle.... but this is a moot point.
And who says you need to use the stock computer? You can convert the car to carb or Just update the car to FI. And nothing is better then tuning with a Laptop!!!
