I.D. of the inner tubes on most current chambered mufflers are the same I.D. as the inlet pipe. The OEM mufflers had a smaller inner tube which was restrictive. I haven't seen any dyno tests that show the flow of current chambered mufflers to prove how restrictive they are.
i doubt theyre that much more restrictive. the ones i have bolt to 2" manifolds, promptly flair to 2 1/2" and then at the chambered sections flare out again to 3". i dont have any conclusive proof, but id be willing to bet it flows the same as a standard 2".

I have the same and they sound GREAT! PG.
I agree. Love my chambered exhaust. And without the mufflers you have more room to work with inside each rear quarterpanel and wheel well areas.
This nonsense about chambered exhaust being restrictive is just that... nonsense. There are no numbers showing that this type of exhaust system is restrictive exist. There are manufacturers who make these pipes with the same diameter, inside and out. Btw, I have them and the car sounds good.
One time I had duals w/ 2 straight through mufflers same ID as the pipes & the mufflers blew off & the hot rod exploded w/ power, then changes were made.
Chambered exhaust was an option on GM cars in the 1960's,it was considered an off road option, offered a free flowing more horsepower, better sound then stock exhaust.Offered on the Z 28,SS Chevelle and the Corvette, the side pipe construction was a chambered exhaust also.RPO N11 was chambered and RPO N14 was the side pipe I believe.
Put chambered on my 73 with headers, you gotta slap the smile off my face every time
I start her up the "potato potata potato" get's me every time!!! if anything it woke the ol girl up!

RPO N-11 is called the "off road" exhaust for C2 Vettes, the mufflers had one less baffel chamber in them, I think it was also used on L-88 and LT-1 Vettes. Chambered exhaust was discontinued in early 1969 after some A**HOLE Indianna cop wrote a "fix it" ticket to a Camaro owner with factory chambered pipes. Option was pulled in March of 69 as I recall, because GM did'nt want to have to go around and pull exhausts off thousands of vehicles with this option (only installed on Camros and Chevelles as far as I know.) Side exhausts systems are revese flow mufflers and quite restrictive in nature. I'll take the N-11 mufflers any time for a restoration or mild build and have inb fact just placed my order with Corvette Central (they are on back order right now!)
