anyone using this set up yet? if so how is it so far? i am about to replace my 6AL for a new unit. while doing my projuect i realized my old unit is 16 years old and since almost everything on the car is new i figured it would be a good time to replace this also. any other systems out there that you like or do not like? i know a lot are not fans of msd but i never had any trouble out of mine at all.

I would let others be the guinea pigs on this one, I bought their new Digital E Curve distributor and almost blew up my new 427ci with backfiring under heavy load. put a tried a tested Pro Billet in and no problems since.
High voltage and sensitive electronic components operating at 3V or less in the same box are a recipe for disaster, and I have some knowledge on this subject
i have a pro billet. what ignition box are you using with it or are you using the hei unit? also to make sure i am understanding you correctly. you are saying that the brains of this thing runs on 3 volts and the high voltage also runs through this thing right next to the the 3 volt board. i am tempeted to try it but i am not quite sure yet. on the fence on this one. i have heard similar things about the e-curve also.

That's what I am saying. eventually they will get it worked out or scrap the whole thing. The E Curve was a disaster. I worked designing electronic equipment for a decade and this type of arrangement of high analog voltage ( and I am not just talking about inside the box, emi and rfi interfierence from all external components are involved ) and low digital voltage is not good in the same environment.
Like I say they will get things sorted out, new cars have the same kind of things going on but have been around long enough to get most of the bugs worked out.
I have PRo Billet distrubutor and 6AL Box, just like I have had for years, I wanted to try the Digital E-Curve because it was easy to change timing curves etc. But once you set your mechanical advance with the spring type to where you want it you usually aren't changing it all the time anyway, I set it and haven't touched it since and I haven't had any problems like I did with e-curve
thanks for the info. the 6al is looking better by the minute.
Im running a 6-ALN.(Nascar version) And a pro billet dist. It is the same box you have with a silicon gel injected into the box which seals it from water, heat, vibration and shock. Ran it 4 years with no issues. Reuseing both on the new build. If you have run your box 16 years and it works well you have a good one. Keep it. Really, how often would you need to change chips?
