Default Clutch adjustment

Is there a clutch adjustment on a 80 model C3. I just put in a Hurst shifter and I do not think my clutch is catching low enough in pedal travel any suggestions?

I don't have an 81 or even a standard transmission on my corvette but since nobody has replied I can give you some generalities about clutch adjustments.

If you have a hydraulic clutch then there is no adjustment.

If you have mechanical linkage there should be an adjusting screw between the lever that goes into the bellhousing and the clutch linkage. In general there should be about an inch of free play in the clutch pedal before you feel pressure from the clutch.

My old T/A had the Z-bar clutch and there was an adjustment procedure for it too.

Basically, you took the linkage out of the normal hole and attached it to the adjustment hole, adjusted the bolt until the play was out, then reattached the linkage to the other hole again. This allows the proper free play.

Should be in your manual somewhere.

In my 80, I ran into the same issue. Couldn't adjust it enough to get it to disengage smoothly at lower RPMs. I took the stock push rod which attaches to the Z-bar and cut it, threaded both sides and added the ability to adjust. It seemed to make a world of difference. First, I replaced the clutch, bearing, etc. to no avail. There is a company that makes a more adjustable linkage and the cost was about $80. I'll attach the link for your perusal. I just decided that $3 was more economical with the same result.

The adjustment for the clutch should be under the master cylinder.
The clutch linkage rod there is threaded with a couple of nuts you can adjust.

Thanks, I knew you could move the pedal up and down but I wondered if you put more pressure on the plate by moving an adjustment. Thanks for the input.
