Went back out, restarted it and they both worked down-up, then drivers side down then stopped. Now nothing again. Seem like loose wire somewhere. Where to start looking?
Can I just take the side skirts off the center console or does the entire top have to come off to replace the switches. Divers switch seem "looser" than passingers. Can you still get these swithches at Auto Zone or do you need to order from a covette supplier?
My 78 'vette has had problems with the screw that holds the window relay in place backing out. That screw acts as a ground. If it backs out, you'll lose your capability to raise and lower 'em.

To replace switches the top needs to come off. I would disconnect battery then side shirts. a few side screws and the top will lift enought to remove two phillips screws to remove switch.
Try this: pushing to the up position and then to the down position and do this very fast for about 15 seconds. If the windows start to work or are inermittent replace the switch because it's going bad.
Does one window work and one doesn't? Usually drivers goes first.
Similar problem on my white79 was solved simply by removing the carpeted side panels, removing the switches and scraping the contact posts on the switches. They were slightly corroded. I could jiggle the connector a tiny bit and they would work. Seemed like corrosion on just one switch would affect both.
On another Vette, I had just the driver switch act up. Would go down easily but going up was hit or miss. Took the original switch apart and cleaned the copper leaves inside, Worked like new.
