Default Starting problem.

I have a 78 corvette L-82 and it has troubles starting. It will not start unless you use starter fluid and spray in carb. Could one of the problems be that there is a kink in the metal line from the pump to the line. If you start it and let it run for a bit then turn it off it will start all that day without fluid.

Could be a problem with the choke. Is the choke plate closing all the way when the engine is cold?

Had a similar problem. When I purchased my car, the previous owner had installed a carb with a manual choke - but never ran a choke cable. He used cans of starter fluid until he sold me that car. Sometimes the choke would be open, sometimes closed, or partially open. Simple fix for me.

Careful with that starting fluid. That stuff isn't too good for your motor.

try pumping your gas petal a few times before you turn the engine... you could check to see if your accelerator pump on carb is pumping gas... if when you look down the carb and you open the accelerator by hand you should see a squirt of gas.... if not there is a problem with you accelerator pump and thats were your starting problem is... hope this helps
