It has been a while since we changed over to the aluminum line and I ran it all summer. It did the trick. Most of it is aluminum now with a couple of 2 to 3 foot sections of Aeroquip lines. I am glad to say the smell is gone. Yes it was easy to bend. We did use a good tubing bender for the tight bends but hand formed some of the easy bends. It is fairly flexible and take your time bending it. I took all my Russell line and promptly put it in the garbage can. I still have some Russell fittings but not the line.

This threads been an interesting read.

On any builds I've done I always stay away from overbraid hose.

For me the only reason to use it from a technical perspective is on off road applications, where rocks and branches might be an issue. Apart from that it's only advantage is aesthetics.

I like bog standard reinforced rubber lines, combined with hard lines.

Rubber lines are easy to line up, check for kinks and inspect for general condition. Overbraiding can hide a multitude of sins right up until a catastrophic failure.

I also had problems with Russel braided line I used for my Hydroboost installation. The line inside the brade had a hole in it. After hearing the other reports of problems, I won't use Russel line again for any project.
