I have a drip coming from beneath the flywheel/torque converter cover on my TH350. So I removed the cover and sure enough, a pool of fluid had gathered in the lip that is closest to the tranny pan. I can't get up there enough to see where the fluid is leaking from. Don't know what I'd look for even if I could see it.
Tom over at the CACC online advised me that it is more than likely a leaky front pump seal where the torque converter slides in.
This sounds like the case to me, but I wanted to get other opinions.
It sounds like it could be the front seal on the transmission. This is the seal that is located behind the torque convertor. This is a fairly common occurance with TH350 & TH400 transmissions. If you ever install a used TH350 or TH400 or if you ever have your transmission out it is always recommended that you change this seal because down the road it is sure to leak.
Sounds right to me. I had the same problem on my '74 a few years ago. I wouldn't fix it until it is time to rebuild the tranny. Just keep a eye on the fluid level.
Sounds like everybody has it right to me. This doesnt' help you much, but I second Bence's words on replacing that seal everytime you get a chance. If you have the motor or tranny out, take the time and the 4 or 5 bucks to change it. Saves headaches down the road.
