The guy's name that got it started is Adam (not sure of last name). His primary goal is to provide an all inclusive site strictly for C3 Corvettes. He has put a great deal of effort into the site in a pretty short period of time. He seems to be committed to making it work! Everytime I visit, there is something new! He has provided some individual year discussion forums for each of the registries to utilize. Juliet Page has a link on her '70 Registry site to C3VR.com for use as her discussion forum. The other Registries should take advantage of this as well!!
I don't see the C3VR as a competition to CorvetteForum, more of a registry for all the individual registries. CorvetteForum.com is "all things Corvette"!! C3VR.com is "All things C3 Corvette"!!
CorvetteForum is still my "home", but C3VR has now become my new "garage"!! :D
I just registered. Interesting focus. It looks like he's trying to accumulate production data for C3s. Regarding the VIN decoder, unless you know nothing about how to read your VIN, it doesn't do much. I already know my '72's birthday was April 19th and the decoder doesn't make the extrapolation from the sequence number. I suppose that's why he asked for the full VIN and build month and year. He's obviously building a database. It's also helpful if you know exactly how your 'Vette was configured when it left the factory, since he asks for your RPOs. Good thing I'm the second owner and the original owner mentioned that the rally wheels were not original and that it actually had wheel covers (which it now does again). My tank sticker was completely unreadable so having this tidbit of info was useful.
I registered too...but am pretty happy with Corvette Forum...don't have the time to be on another forum as well. I tried it with the Corvette Action Center, and it didn't work out for me. I guess I am a "one forum" kind of guy!
I have been in for a few months, been pretty good and Adam is always working on making it better. Someone above had it correct, Corvette forum is great like a home and C3VR is a good garage. Its got a few neat features that this forum does not have, so I check in a few times a week, give me a shout if ya see me over there.
I got the email. So i joined too. Seems ok. Not quite the number of people there yet. But it seems to be another good source of info. I like it here better also, but it is a cool place to check out once in a while. Maybe when the membership gets up, you will see more posts there.
