Had this happen with a 96 sebring too. We had an option of re heat sealing the seam to the glass nut it probably would happen again. I went with a new top and it happened again 3 yrs later. I then carefully used liquid nails and held it in place wiith 2 people to make a good seal. After about 2 beers each and conversation it made a good seal. I then trimmed off excess glue and sold the car in 5 months. That was my fix. It held great through the Florida rainy season without a leak. I wonder if it still is holing up now...
good luck

Had a convertible with glass in the top, NEVER AGAIN.....only way it came, supposedly....went through 3 of them in 5 years....

glass is too heavy to be suspended in vinyl/fabric even the best factory efforts never seem to last too well,

the heat welded/melted plastic from vinyl to vinyl is the best....

and the damn window can't break/shatter....unless you bending it, or worse, yet, creasing it in cold weather....

Find another top shop. My son had a Camaro convertible that did this. I took it to an auto upholstery shop around here who re-glued the window. Charged me $60.00, needed to keep the car 36 hours so that the sealent had time to fully cure. He told me that he does this all the time. He said he wasn't sure it would hold on the Camaro because of how much it had separated, but he was willing to try and it was still holding a year and a half later when we sold the car. This top got a work out too, he'd put the top up and down for his 7 mile ride to and from work everyday.

I will say that this guy has been in the business for years. I've been dealing with him for 35 years, so maybe he's more willing to experiment for me, but I don't think so. This is the type of shop that will try to fix something as reasonable as possible for a customer, not just go and replace something. My shop told me that instead of replacing the top, he could also replace the glass window with a plastic one if glueing the glass one didn't work. You may want to consider this as an option.

My additude was, let's try and fix it, if it works we're ahead of the game and if it doesn't work, then we would replace the top. We were lucky, it worked. This is one of the reasons I am allways comfortable referring customers to this shop.

Thinking about it now, I don't think I ever got paid back by my son. Oh well, the things we do for our kids.
