Engine building questions??

I would love to build a nice strong 327.But alas they are hard to come by.The new vortec 5.4 is around 323ci(I believe).Everyone has heard about how good the vortec heads are.Could you take a new block and heads and build them strong and use a carb. setup?

As a cost saving measure many people shift from FI to carbs. I would call major manufactures and find out what kind of intakes are available.
