This is how I did my 74 w/AC & Auto last weekend.

Drain radiator
Remove fan blade
Remove hoses
Remove shroud brackets
Pull shroud towards the motor and hang it on the water pump pulley to get it out of the way
Shroud will only come out after radiator is removed
Disconnect transmission lines
Remove two top radiator brackets
Remove 4 top core support bolts ( 2 on each side ) then loosen 2 bottom bolts ( one on each side )
Lean core support towards front of car
Remove radiator by pulling up on drivers side first.
Best to have a helper for the last step, PG.

Remove the hood, drain the coolant, disconnect the upper hose from the radiator. Inside both wheel wells are 3 bolts that secure the rad support, remove them. Under the support are 2 7/16 bolts(5/8 wrench) remove them. Remove the rod that goes from the support to the under side of the nose by the horn. Remove 2 1/4" nuts from the bottom of the shroud. Remove the 2 upper shroud brackets. Remve the 4 bolts that hold the fan clutch to the water pump and remove the fan/clutch assembly. Remove the 5 #10 bolts holding the shroud ring to the shroud and remove it. Using a 1/2" tubing wrench, remove both trans cooler lines from the radiator. Tilt the radiator and support along with the condensor forward till it touches the headlight actuators. Lift the drivers side of the shroud up and (using a lot of swear words) remove it. Disconnect the lower radiator hose at the radiator. Remove the 2 bolts per side for the upper radiator mounts and remove the radiator by lifting the drivers side up first.

Oops, you type faster than me Glassman. Did this last weekend too.

Both of the above. I found that it was much easier to remove the hood. It's a pretty tight fit and this lessens the possibility of damaging anything. Plus, I think I got a lot more leverage by pulling from the front of the car rather than just from the sides. And definitely remove the top support bolts so you can move the support forward for the clearance you need to pull the radiator out.

Thanks guy's. I have the water pump removed and everything drained, I have the break down, but still could not see an easy approach.
And was told that the radiator support, supported the nose?

While you in there be sure and look at the lower area of your radiator support. They have a tendency to rust in this area.
