I just bought a 79 vette 350, numbers match. I'm trying to figure out if it's a L82 or L48, the hood has L82 on it. But the dealer wasn't sure if that was right or not. And what is the difference between the two.
Thanks for any help

Check the VIN code.
The 5th digit is the engine code. "8"= L-48 and "4"= L-82.

Here's a link to a previous post on the differences.

If the dealer didn't know which engine it had, how does he know it's 'numbers match'?
