I just tried to order tires from THE TIRE RACK online. I asked for 255/60/15,
which I hope will fit my '77. Anyway it gave me a selection of 6 different tires in that size. I picked the Firehawk SS20. When I tried to checkout, it told me it did not have a warehouse in my area to ship from, would I like another warehouse to ship for a little more money. I said yes. When I hit enter, it told me their was a problem with the server and what server was I using.
What's Up with THAT ?????? Can't even spend money when I want...
I've never ordered from tire rack, but I can certainly relate to PC, server, network, etc. problems
Anyway FWIW, I was looking at tires in my local Sam's club the other day and was a little disappointed that they didn't have the size or brand tire I wanted on the floor, but the guy there asked me what I was looking for, looked it up in his book and said he could have the tires to me in a couple of days. I've bought several sets of tires from these "discount" stores (Price Club, Sam's Club) and been very pleased. Just a thought.
I have never tried to order tires from them online. I always call in instead, I speaking to a human. I have ordered 5 sets of tires from them and I'm very satisfied. I would highly recommend getting tires from them to anyone.
That happened to me once but when I called the next day everything was fine. I've ordered 2 sets of tires and my father has ordered 4 sets and we both are very happy with the service.
How much is shipping for tires from them anyone know?
Thanks,
Tom
The shipping will be determined by your distance from the nearest warehouse. In my case, the nearest warehouse was in Reno, NV. and I live in the SF bay area. The shipping for me was about $25 for UPS ground and I had them the following day :)
Vettcor, Those are exactly the same tires I put on my 71. I would post some pics of them, but my pics are on my CF homepage, so they wont show until the homepage problem is fixed. The only clearance problem that i have with them is durring full lock left turns. The left front tire rubs on a bolt on the back side of the fenderwell and it makes a sound like the car is gonna come apart  , but actually it just polished up the bolt for me :D Just curious of why you picked them too. I figured that they would have a stiffer sidewall since they are rated up to 42psi as opposed to all other brands that only take 35psi. This was the main selling point for me. I run mine at 38 right now and they handle great.
I can attest to a good experience with Tire Rack. I think it cost me $10 per tire to get them shipped to my installer. Still saved a pile of $$ over local prices. When you order over the web, you can trace the progress.
