Recently In my 1980 Vette I installed a after market radio( Retro Sound Model 1). I'm certain I connected the wires correctly, from antenna relay:Org- hot to battery yel- to radio, and the radio connections org-always hot and my ignition wire is red, and yellow from relay to antenna. Anyways, when the ignition switch is in "on" the antenna cycle up and down, when I trun the radio on, the antenna goes up and works the way it should. When I disconnect the battery and re connect it, the antenna cycles up and down. What do make of it?
Most new radios have a blue that goes to the antenna. PG.
I didn’t notice him not mentioning the blue.
A power antenna normally has three wires:
One goes to ground
One goes to constant hot
One goes to the blue power antenna wire from your radio.
When power is applied to the blue wire the antenna goes up. When you cut power to the blue wire, the other constant hot takes over and pulls the antenna down.
bought the same radio, It seems to go up and down on its own. I replaced the relay, it still does this. there is times it works correct then it goes wacky. nice radio though I hooked up a antenna booster and whether its up or down I get reception, bought on ebay $9. still working on the antena problem though.
