Default Question on outer door window seals

Since I've got my whole interior out, including the door panels. I noticed there was a lot of water leaking down the window through the outer seal and into the door. The car is a 68 convertible. When I looked for replacements i noticed the 68 lists the "cat whisker" outer seals, which dont seem to work too well. Was a solid rubber outer seal used on 69 and up models. And has anyone changed from the "cat whisker" to these. I'm assuming they're interchangeable, correct? Need help quickly, it's raining.
Thanks,
Gary

I replaced the outer window seals when I had my power window motors and tracks out of both doors.

For the '75 the outer seal has a rubber-like base covered by a type of felt that contacts the window.

Gary I'm also at that same point on my 68 vert and I'm wondering the same thing .The 69 has rubber outer seal .Because i replaced them this summer on my sold 69 coupe. And i also believe the cat whiskers arn't very good at repeling water. Hey you looking to buy a custom tilt column. Just got mine and love it. :D

Do you think the 69 seal will go on the 68 door mount easily? I'm planning on ordering some this week. I have seen aftermarkest seals in catalogs that I assumed were the rubber lip style and they listed 68 -82 application. Besides the 69 seals are about 1/2 the price of 68s.
BTW, my non-tilt column fits me really well. Thanks anyway.

Bad news for you 68 owners. I called around and the good Dr. finally told me that the 69 seals would NOT work on the 68. They apparently already tried it. I did see a listing in JC Whitney parts catalog for 68 and up seals. Although these were not broken down to conv vs coupe, so I'm wondering about their quality. I'll let you all know if I find anything out.

Correct, 69 vs. 68 won´t work.

The seals are alike from 69 - 82 to my knowledge, but not in 68.
Check out with Ecklers, they have 68 specific parts.
Unfortunately they are way more expensive than the 69 - 82 ones...... :cry

I would check with Corvette Rubber. They claim to make all the seals for the vettes. I got my 72's there the other day.

Phlash, quite right, I also dealt with C R some years ago and it went OK.

It seems, as far as I know, that not all rubber parts are manufactured and I guess it is a driver side door felt that has been discontinued- hopefully not the needed part......
