My 77 Vette has been sitting for the winter...took it out for a ride the other day and the generator light was on in the dash. Battery is fully charged and the alternator is charging. What else would cause this? Anybody have any ideas?
I'm having the same problem in my 79. Did you put a charger on the battery? If so did you start the car with the charger hooked up. That's where I'm looking right now. The battery was new last year, the Alternator is charging, but the light is on and the needle is pegged to the left. if I figure it out I'll let you know. Please do the same.
Bill , Is the lite on full intensity (same brightness as when the key is in run position with car not running) or is the lite a little dimmer when the car is running as compared to when it is not running but with key on ? Does the lite even come on when the key is in run position and car has not yet been started?

It started out the light would come on dim and then go out. The Vette sat at a friends all winter while I replaced the interior in his 85. When he brought my Vette back the light was on full brightness. It will go out if I unplug the alternator. Yes, the light is on in the run position. Believe it or not it is the original alternator that came with the Vette new.
