I'm doing a "complete" on my '69. With Hooker side exhaust it gets a little much on the highway with my 427. I'm wanting to lower my highway RPM. Has anyone run a 3.07 rear end with a close ratio Muncie 4 speed? I was told there won't be much difference between a 3.73 and 3.55.
Any help or advise will be gladly accepted.
Lots of people have swapped to a 3:07 gear set. They get better mileage on the highway, not much of a start off the line though.
What gears do you have now, 4:11s? How much do you drive the car? If it's a hobby car and doesn't come out much leave what's in there in there. If you must have a gear change I'd go with the 3:55s. You'll be in the middle of performance and mpg. I don't think I'd want built small blocks beating my big block. I wouldn't put 3:07s in it.
