This harness came with the car in a box. The car has the original transistor box still on the core support. Really not sure it's a '69 harness yet. Has remainants of a wrap the seems to have had a fabric to it. Also has a label by the plug for the transistor harness that has the numbers "7588" on it. Does this help to identify it?
Next, trying to decide if it's worth repairing. At my label "A" the black and pink are tied together, is that correct? At the label "C" which is on the far left of the first pic, the wire has been looped back on itself, is this correct? Lastly, in which hole in the FW does the body plug labeled "B" go? Does anyone have advise as to what to do with it? If it's not a lot of trouble I would like to use it. (first try at pics, hope it works!)
Thanks.
Wow, I sure hope someone can help you here. For the last 34 years I have a 65 396 with the transistor ignition. I replaced a couple of my wires years ago. I do remember a cloth type covered wire running from the distributor then to the front of the car and coming back to the distributor area. Where it stopped I forget.
It would be hard for someone to help you out here. I would suggest buying a 1969 GM Corvette service manual. Everything would be explained in there where the wires all go.
I would think this harness you have it the original harness. Someone tagged each wire when they took them off, in order to put them back. Too bad the points of disconections weren't tagged also.
Well, I know I wasn't much help here at all. The GM shop manual would help you out so much and get the job done. The wiring schematic would take all the mystery out of what you want to know.
I'd think about getting a new harness. Not that much money for a harness that is full of new wire. The insulation on those wires in the pictures looks like it'll crack and fall off first time you flex them.
And you do need to get a wiring diagram- life gets much better when you have one.

Have the service manual. It is diagrammatic and I'm not an electrician so I have some trouble understanding it. AIM does not help much either.
If you go to the TI Specialty website there's a wiring diagram in the 'Articles' section.
Great discussion on the differences through the years but the diagrams are out of the service manual. I know one of you guys has been through this before!
6297596 was GM number on this harness from 1969-1971. I have a schematic on this I'll see if I can post it on the site and then I'll post the link. If I read this right, the black and white wire should tie together and the pink wire and run to the ignition switch. Also, the black wire from the TI box connector should loop in to the other white wire and run to the positive side of the coil.
Let me see if I can clean up my schematic for you and post it. I may not be able to get this done tonight but I'll try and post back.

Thanks Wilcox! There's one AIM diagram on your link I haven't been able to pull up in my AIM that is very helpful as far as equipment placement. I'm still not sure the "splice" at my label "A" is factory though. Pink from the harness plug is spliced to the brown wire which I think is part of the harness that goes to the ignition switch. Also part of this splice is the white(?) wire that has what looks like a firewall plug on it (my label "B"). If I am unable to solve this, how authentic is the harness you guys sell?
It's been 14 years since I installed this on a car and this car was a 67. My 70 LT-1 has the TI ignition but as the normal idiot I removed it around 1990. I still have all the parts here but I'll call this a one of my more Stupid Moments in Life!
How good is the harness. It's Lectric Limited Brand and they have always delivered top shelf products to us. I have not compared one but I can not imagine them making it wrong.
I did the pumpkin schematic from drawings I had here so the wire colors may not be correct in the schematic. . . But even without the correct color you should be able to re-create the path.
You can also order Dr. Rebuilds laminated wiring schematics in color and coded. Terrific to have and use. Makes what your inquiring about very easy to understand.
