Default Birdcage years

I wanted to find out if a birdcage from a 1982 non-collectors edition will fit a 1977. I would only be using the metal birdcage in the swap, no fiberglass. If it wouldn't work, why? Thanks.

Not sure what the difference is other then angle of the front winshield, but my 72 T-tops will not fit my 79. I know your asking about a 77, but it also has a straight rear window like the 72.
Maybe someone will have the real reason for the different measurements in the bird cage.

Good question! I don't have the answer, but will stick around for it.

I would think it's do-able with a little tweaking and welding. So if you don't mind ...

No difference in the lay back angle of the windshield throughout all C3 years. Your tops won't fit because they changed the latching mechs to reduce theft.

Also, tops are notoriously hard to make work on cars other than they came on... not such good assembly tolerances on these things.

Don't know the answer on the cage, but potential difference are dashboard pickup points, and different geometries because of the fastback glass versus the tunnel back cars.

Default Thank you.

I do appreciate all of your input. Thanks.

Does anyone have anything that compares the birdcage (no fiberglass, just metal) throughout the different years. I heard somewhere that the metal is all the same from '68 to '82 but I was looking for something out of a book or someone who has worked with corvette birdcages for many years to find out for sure. I have searched throughout old posts on all of the Corvette Forum and others to no avail.

I do appreciate any input though. Thanks.
