Default windshield molding (picture attached)

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the molding on the outside of my windshield so that I can see why it doesn't fit properly. It is sticking up and making some wind noise. Could this be rust or is it just a clip that is broken?

Someone else removing the molding might be the reason it is not fitting properly.

It is common practice to accidently bend the upper molding when removing it. This especially holds true if you have a clip that is being difficult to remove or one that is not accounted for before trying to pull the molding.

The windshield molding is held in place by clips along the header. To remove you will need a molding release tool available from most automotive stores.

You insert the pointed edge of the tool under the molding and drag across until you feel the edge hit a clip. When you hit the clip you rock the handle on the tool and the molding. . . . in a perfect world will release.

If you are talking about the chrome corner molding, it cannot be removed without taking out the windscreen. The screw is just underneath the top of the screen glass.

There are many threads about people breaking their screen trying. I am one of those people.

This is how you do it, but you will need to remove the pillar post weatherstrip and the weatherstrip retainer. Once you do this the side molding can be removed. If all this is out of the way you then follow the instructions above.

From the looks of things in your picture someone did try this and bent the molding a little toward the passenger side of your finger. You can try to straighten it out, but you'll need to take your time and not kink the molding.
