Stingy74. That is a pretty wild set of gears. With the 700 3.06 low times 4.88 thats almost 15 to 1 in low. It will rev out almost instantly. Your cruising gear is 3.4 so it will still be buzzing at 60 or 70. What are you going to need with this much gearing? Pulling trees?

More like driving up them!! Don'g go too high, the smaller limbs won't hold the Vette.

Stingy:
Norval is correct, you're going to wind first gear up almost immediately. 4.88s are definetly a wild gear setup....all I have to say is thank god for overdrive :). I know if I stuck a set of 4.88s in my car with my 4 speed & 28" tall tires I would be taching around 3800RPMs @ 65mph.

Have you figured out what your top speed will be? Those gears will sure get you moving in a hurry....if you can hook up ;).

They would be perfect for a ZF-6 with 50% OD and get you down to 2.44 gearing in sixth.

I think that drag racer O'Dennis has the right idea with a 700R4 tranny. He went to 4.27 gearing. So he is maxed out in third gear through the traps.

I still spin 28X10 goodyear slicks with 10 psi because the 700 first gear is so low with my 4.11's. But you need some spin to keep from breaking things.

You would end up taking off in second defeating the whole purpose of a 4 speed.

These gears are becoming very scarce. I bought them because I new i'd never see another brand new set again. I bought them for the purpose of s.hits and giggles on the street. My new setup will only peak towards 7000, so with this ring and pinion I will obviously be over geared for any serious drag racing. I just think they'd be alot of fun. I still have the 4.56's.
