Default turbo my 76 vette

Hi everyone. i am a new member as of today. i own a 1976 corvette and want to put a turbo in it. the only problem is that i cannot find one that works. i have looked for the accel turbos and martin turbos but cant find any. i found some turbos on ebay but they are all twin trubos, i was kinda looking for a single turbo. if someone can point me in the right direction to buy one that would be great. thanks

Contact Squires Turbo Systems (google them), but, for any turbo set up, be ready for a lot of work and have plenty of cash to burn.

God bless, Sensei

You can't expect to bolt a turbo on a factory l48...
you have 300 hp of piston smoking fun for about 2 days...
hehe

Wait just a sec... how about you give us some specs? Turbo kits can vary greatly depending on need.. and price varys wildly also. A single t45 setup will be quite a bit less and much more straight forward than a twin scroll t76 setup if you plan on revving that high..

What motor is in your car?
What compression ratio is it running?
What heads are you running?
What size carb are you running?
What are the specs on your cam?

If you have a basically stock L48 motor, it would be idiotic to throw a turbo on it and call it good. You would be spending a ton of money (3 - 4k pretty easy) to setup a turbo which might net you 30whp. You need to setup your head/cam/carb config first before you throw a turbo on. You want a high flowing set of heads (afr 195's would be a great start), a 750 carb at the least and a cam spec'ed out for the increase in air on the high end of the rpm range. You would also want to swap your bottom end for forged components, select a piston to go with your heads which would give you about an 8.5cr so you can run more boost..

I dunno.. you may already have everything setup, but if not it takes a lot of planning and motor setup before going straight for forced induction. Feel free to ask any questions you have and you'll get some good answers around here. On a low compression nearly stock 350 you would benefit a LOT more by swapping H/C/I/carb/exhaust. You would likely spend less and get a MUCH better return on your cash.

Boy I didn't think anybody here was old enough to remember the Accel and Martin single turbo Systems! I was in High School. Watch long enough on e-bay and they will come. Or you can just build your own set up Turbo technology as well as others are still making Kits. As stated above I'd start out with the right Motor and I'd add that modern Fuel Injection is a must. They say that a Carb is nothing but a fuel leak and a Blow threw system is nothing but a fuel leak out of control.

Over the years I've picked up several of the Martin turbo systems. In 1989 I modified a Martin system for my '84. I loved the Z51 suspension in my '84, but the engine was a complete pooch. I put a built up 8:1 engine in it, and now this thing is as fast as my '69 in the straights.

This is an old picture when I had the car instrumented, doing the calibration changes in the ECM.
I've put a couple thousand track miles (road course) on the '84. Runs great. The Martin setup isn't terribly hi-tech these days, but it will still run strong if updated a bit.
I've got the same setup on my street rod.

Keep watching the 'bay. I do see the Martins on occasion. BTW, a member of our club Corvettes of So Cal, has a Martin on his '78. Said he dropped ~2 sec in the 1/4 mile. Everything fits under the stock hood.
