Did the valve covers on the 69 427's have the indentation on the drivers side even if the car did not have the vacuum brake booster?
In the "Fact Book" is a picture of a 427/400 hp with no PB and a valve cover with no indention on the driver's side. But this does not mean that's necessarily true for all BB w/o PB. Can imagine that all combinations were available (may be dependent on stock of valve covers )
The indentation was necessary for C2 Corvettes with a big block due to lack of clearances. It was not necessary for C3's but some still received them anyway...most likely due to using parts already produced.
My '69 427/435 has a brake booster and no indentations on the valve cover...none needed as there's adequate clearance.
Mine has the indentation and P.B. Doesn't need the dent, plenty of room. If more space was needed, (bigger booster) that little dent on the corner sure wouldn't help much. Just my opinion.
my 70 BB is flashed chrome and does not have indentation and does not have PB..
my book says that around Jan 68 the chrome BB covers no longer had the big indentation
and was then a much smaller indentation...
then in july 69 the indentation was completely eliminated... so I guess it depends on the build date of your 69......
