Default Jumpy Speedometer

i replaced my speedometer cable yesterday and went to test it out, the needle never stays still..always jumpping...and when i accelerate the needle is behind (has to catch up). could it be i didnt connect it to the transducer properly?

could be a seating issue with the cable behind the dash.

my friend helped me out..hes the one who connected the one side closes to the steering wheel so i havent checked that side yet..ill have to make sure he clipped it in

Most likely the transducer is not turning smoothly.

As a test, pull the cable loose at the transducer going to the speedo, and turn it with a drill motor. Put the drill in reverse and be careful about holding it inline with the cable or you may break the cable. Have a friend watch the speedo. You should be able to run the speedo and see if it is smooth or jumping still. If it is jumpy, you know it is the transducer.
