Default info about 350 heads

checked the numbers on my heads last night. (462624)
Mortec says that this no. head has 76cc chambers.

What does this mean?

Also, the Mortec manual says that these heads have1.72/1.5 , 1.94/1.5, or 2.02/1.6 valves.

And finally, how can I tell if these are high compression or low compression heads? (Compression testing resulted in all cylinders between 135 and 145,
so I am assuming high compression)

How can I find which valves my heads have?

Thanks,
TJ

Pull a head off and measure it.

76cc is a low compression head. Most of the high perf. small block heads were 64cc.

That head is an open chambered head 76cc which means low compression. A 64cc and below is considered to be an closed chambered head. If you have the head off the motor, turn it up level so that you are looking at the side of the head that bolts to the block. Put the spark plugs in each cylinder just like if it was on the car. Take a needle that you can read the cc's of fluild in and start filling the chambers till the fluild is level with deck of the head, what ever amount you put in that is the cc's of that head. As far as the valve size you need the head off the engine. Just take a ruler and measure the valve face. If it is a 2.02 / 1.60 it should look the valves touch, if 1.94 / 1.50 the distance between the exh. and int. valve should be farther apart.
