got a new booster and master cyclinder. When installing the MC it seemed the booster was pushing the piston a little. I tried a Motive pressure bleeder and nothing came out. I put two washers on each stud behind the MC to move it out and it bleed just fine and has great brakes.
there were two pins with the new booster and I have the shorter one in. It looks just like the one in the old booster.
So it seems to be fixed but I don't understand why.
You have the wrong MC or wrong booster. The push rod should not contact the MC piston before it meets flush with the booster. It is not a good idea to space out the MC as you loose contact area with the mounting flange and could crack the MC mounting ears.
I did use a wide washer that has full coverage of the ears. Unfortunately there was a span of time between MC/Booster removal and new part install. A shop cleaning tossed the old ones (except for pin from booster) before the new was installed so i cant compare.
I did look at the 2 pins, holding them up side by side they were same length to eye. The new booster bolted up and hooked up perfect (other than cramming a 6' 250lb man in the floor board.
