Default 74 bumper options

Hi all -

I purchased a 74 recently. The front bumper is cracked and needs to be replaced. The rear has 2 cracks - 1 on each side above the tail lights.

The car was painted at some point and the rest of the car looks pretty good so I don't want to paint the whole thing.

First question is if the rear is repairable or if I'd be better off just getting a new one. If if it's not repairable, the second question is urethane vs. the fiberglass "flex" fit? Also, lots of options available on the internet - any experience with a good product would be appreciated!

I'm also looking for someone to do the finishing and paint work in the Grand Rapids, MI area if anyone can give me a referal.

Thanks for the help in advance!

therein lies the beauty of a truflex bumper, it can be repaired like a fiberglass panel.

I think the issue will be getting the truflex to match up to the body. When I did mine I was painting the whole car so I could do a little sanding and blending. The urethane bumper covers are probably more forgiving in the install and that is going to be a big issue for you since you are not painting the whole car. Lots of guys with the truflex including myself have issues with fit. urethane guys not so much.

Novice recommendation for your application - urethane .

Default `74 -no urethane

As far as i am aware there is no urethane replacement for a `74 due to the 2 piece construction. I don`t like the `75 as it has the bumperettes which are not correct for the `74. I would go with Truflex.

On the flip side, i installed a Truflex on my `74 and could not get it to line up perfectly so i ended up cutting it and blending it in seemless.

Not sure if that helps!
