Ok...even though I bought this about a year or so ago I have finally started to install it. Actually it is in the car just not conected yet. LOOKS awesome!!!The question that I have is should I use the barrel extender in the MC vs leave it out. The MC that I have in there now is a deep version, but the new willwood MC is also deep, but it comes with a filler that extends it approx 2.5-3 inches closer to the edge. I do not think I use it,but want to be sure.
depending on the hydroboost unit you have i think you will need the extender. i was told with the chevy astro unit that i needed a 77 and up mc. after talking to some of the guys here they stated that the 77 mc was a shallow unit. so i ordered a shallow m/c but am waiting on it to come in. it is on back order.

Thanks and I do agree the 77 corvette MC used the shallow version and the 76 and older used the deep version. Do you have any idea how to tell what type of HB I have so I can figure out if I need the shallow or deep MC?
BTW your car rocks!!! I have been following your build and you are one talented guy
Ok I am now lost as I do not have hoses going into my stering box...Am i supposed to have some?
nope that is for the aftermarket power sterring box dont worry about that. the mc's are as follows from what i learned in a recent thread.
"The pushrod primary piston depth is different between the '76-'77 cylinders. As I recall, the pushrod recess for the early piston is ~1" deep, the '77 and on ~1/8" deep. The cylinders are interchangeable, but the guts are not".
just figure out about how far in the plunger is from the edge of the hydro unit where the mc will go in and then measure how far in the recess will need to be for the plunger to make contact with the m/c piston. if that makes sense.
thanks for the comments on the car. it is getting closer each week. still lots to do but getting there.

got it thanks. To be sure I have this correct please let me know if I have this routing down. PS pump output to HB inlet then HB outlet to the power steering controll valve input. Then use a t fitting for the PS return line and connect it to the HB return line.
yep that sounds right. now you get to bleed the system. from what i have read sometimes even after it has been done right it may have to sit for a little while for some of the air to make its way out of the fluid.
